Two renowned innovators in the medical gas training industry, MGI Systems and Certified Medical Gas Systems (CMGS), have announced the availability of their web-based American Society of Sanitary Engineers (ASSE) 6020 Inspector Certification Program. The online training program is available at the Medical Gas Certifications, Inc. (MGC) website, located at http://www.medgascerts.com. The ASSE 6020 course offered by MGC, an organization which seeks to offer more flexibility and convenience in certifying qualified individuals and in helping institutions gain ASSE 6000 series certification and NFPA 99 compliance, was designed to provide an online method for qualified individuals to gain certification in the inspection and testing of medical gas and vacuum systems.
The ASSE 6020 program is derived from code requirements specified in NFPA 99, Standard for Health Care Facilities, and provides candidates with a background in the basics of medical gas systems; from general knowledge, applications, basic operational procedures and performance tendencies and component review to crucial safety guidelines and precautions. Candidates for the 24-hour course, which is administered in accordance with the ASSE standard, can complete the training process entirely Online – from application all the way through to final examination and certification – but must meet certain experience requirements before being accepted as a candidate in the program.
The program was designed by Jonathan C. Willard – President and owner of the comprehensive medical gas services provider, CMGS – who is an ASSE 6050 Certified Instructor with a Master of Science degree in Business Education and has worked in the medical gas and construction field for over 16 years. Mr. Willard is a LEED Accredited Professional, a Certified Healthcare Constructor, and is a principal member of the Technical Committee on Medical Gas and Vacuum Piping Systems and the Technical Committee on Industrial and Medical Gases.
