Motor and Generator Institute (MGI) was formed in 1995 by Dan Chisholm Sr. Dan has worked in the emergency power industry for over 40 years. While running his own service business, Dan saw the need for facilities to fine-tune their protocols so the EPSS will operate properly when needed. Motor and Generator Institute was formed and the first version of the Emergency Power Supply Systems: Maintenance, Testing, and Compliance was released. Dan now serves as Chairman of the NFPA 110, Emergency and Standby Power Systems, technical committee.
Over the last 21 years, Motor and Generator Institute has hosted over 1,000 in-person training classes and published multiple versions of the Emergency Power Supply Systems: Maintenance, Testing, and Compliance Manual. In 2017, MGI launched a new “electronic” version of the EPSS Compliance Manual and online class, to properly maintain, test and comply with all Authorities Having Jurisdiction.
